Temporary processing
Files are processed for the action you request, not as permanent storage.
Use responsibly
Only upload files you have the right and authority to process.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using PDFPA, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you use PDFPA on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization.
2. What PDFPA currently provides
PDFPA provides free browser-based tools for converting, organizing, compressing, editing, protecting, signing and otherwise processing PDF and related document formats.
PDFPA currently has no public registration/login system, paid subscription plan or checkout/payment system. Public visitors can use available tools without creating a user account. Internal administrator authentication is separate and is not a public user service.
We may add, remove, restrict or change tools, limits, supported file types, processing methods or features at any time.
3. Acceptable use
You may use PDFPA only for lawful purposes and only with files, content and information you have the legal right or authorization to process.
You must not:
- upload or process content in violation of law, court order, contract, copyright, privacy, confidentiality or another person's rights;
- use PDFPA to distribute malware, malicious documents, harmful code or deceptive content;
- attempt to attack, probe, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, bypass rate limits, defeat security controls or interfere with PDFPA infrastructure;
- use automated means at a volume that degrades the service or circumvents limits intended to keep free tools available fairly;
- impersonate another person, create a signature request without authorization, or misrepresent the identity or authority of a signer;
- use PDFPA in a way that creates unreasonable security, legal or operational risk.
We may block or restrict requests, IP addresses, browser identifiers or other technical sources when reasonably necessary to prevent abuse, fraud, attacks or excessive automated usage.
4. Uploaded files, temporary storage and deletion
PDFPA processes uploaded files to perform the tool action you request. It is not a permanent storage service and you should keep your own original copy.
- Standard completed results are generally available for up to 10 minutes after processing completes.
- The result page displays a countdown showing the remaining availability window.
- The Delete result control requests immediate deletion of the temporary server-side job/files.
- Incomplete uploads and processing queues may have separate short technical expiry periods needed to receive, process, recover or clean up a job.
- Sign PDF request mode is different: a document intentionally shared for another person to sign may remain available for up to 7 days.
Deletion is designed to remove temporary file data from active job storage. Limited operational/database metadata such as tool name, timestamps, size, status and error information may remain for analytics, reliability, fraud prevention or administration as described in the Privacy Policy.
You must not treat PDFPA as a backup service. Once a file expires or is deleted, it may be unrecoverable.
5. Sign PDF and electronic signatures
PDFPA's signature features are document tools, not legal advice, identity verification, notarization or a guarantee that a signature will satisfy the laws of a particular jurisdiction or transaction.
You are responsible for obtaining required consent and authority from signers, choosing an appropriate signing method, preserving any additional records required for your use case, and determining whether an electronic signature is legally sufficient.
Shareable signer/owner links act as access credentials. Anyone who obtains a valid link may be able to access the associated request within its validity period, so you are responsible for sharing those links carefully.
6. Tool output and document accuracy
Document conversion and editing can be imperfect. Fonts, layouts, tables, images, metadata, hyperlinks, forms, OCR results, signatures, annotations, compression quality or other elements may change during processing.
You are responsible for reviewing downloaded output before relying on it, submitting it to another party, deleting your original file or using it for legal, financial, academic, professional or other important purposes.
7. Security responsibilities
PDFPA uses reasonable safeguards such as private processing routes, temporary storage, random access tokens, upload validation, file-size limits, rate limits and short retention periods. Production traffic should be protected with HTTPS/TLS.
No online service is completely secure. Do not upload a document if the available safeguards are insufficient for its sensitivity, confidentiality requirements or regulatory obligations. You are responsible for complying with any special rules that apply to documents you handle.
8. Third-party services and future donations
PDFPA may rely on infrastructure, hosting, security/CDN, analytics and other third-party services to operate the website. Use of those services can be subject to their terms and privacy practices.
PDFPA uses or may enable Google Analytics for traffic measurement as described in the Privacy Policy.
Voluntary donations
If PDFPA later displays a Donate / Buy us a coffee button handled by a third-party provider, donations will be optional and will not purchase a subscription or guaranteed service level unless explicitly stated otherwise. Payment processing will be governed by the provider's terms and privacy policy, and PDFPA does not intend to store full card details.
9. Your content and PDFPA intellectual property
You retain whatever ownership rights you already have in files and content you submit. You grant PDFPA only the limited permission necessary to receive, copy, process, transform and temporarily store the content for the requested tool operation and service administration.
PDFPA's website design, branding, software, interfaces, original text and service materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of PDFPA technology or branding to you.
10. Availability, limits and changes
PDFPA may be unavailable, slow, interrupted or changed because of maintenance, server capacity, software updates, security events, network failures or other operational reasons. Free usage limits may be introduced or adjusted to manage resources and abuse.
We may suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of the service without guaranteeing advance notice, especially when required for security, legal compliance or system stability.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PDFPA is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every file, error-free output, preservation of every document feature, or suitability for a particular purpose.
Nothing on PDFPA constitutes legal, financial, accounting, medical or other professional advice.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PDFPA and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, documents, revenue, profits, business opportunities or goodwill arising from use of or inability to use the service.
Where applicable law does not allow a limitation or exclusion, these provisions apply only to the extent legally permitted. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms as PDFPA changes, including if accounts, subscriptions, payment features, donation features, new third-party services or materially different processing practices are introduced. The date at the top will identify the latest published version.
Continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Applicable law and mandatory rights
These Terms are subject to applicable law. Because PDFPA is available internationally, mandatory consumer, privacy and other statutory rights can vary by jurisdiction and are not waived where they cannot lawfully be waived.
A more specific governing-law and dispute-resolution clause should be added if PDFPA is operated through a formally identified company/entity and a chosen legal jurisdiction. Until then, these Terms should not be read as overriding mandatory rights available under applicable law.
15. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be submitted through the PDFPA contact form.
These Terms are intended to describe the current PDFPA service accurately, but legal requirements vary by country and business structure. Production use should be reviewed against the laws that apply to the PDFPA operator and its target users.
