Spreadsheet reconstruction

Recover tables as editable worksheet cells

Use PDF table detection and page-aware text placement to create a workbook that is more useful than a collection of screenshots.

Editable detected tables

Recognized table rows and columns are written as real Excel cells.

Page-aware text placement

Text outside tables is positioned into worksheet cells based on PDF geometry.

Scanned-page fallback

A page without usable text can be preserved visually instead of producing an empty worksheet.

Separate XLSX result

The source PDF stays unchanged.

How to convert PDF to Excel

Upload your PDF, let PDFPA analyze tables and download the workbook.

01

Upload the PDF

Choose one file up to 200 MB and 2,000 pages.

02

Analyze document structure

PDFPA detects usable text and table regions and maps them into spreadsheet content.

03

Download XLSX

Save the generated workbook and review or edit it in Excel-compatible software.

Temporary processing with automatic cleanup

Your file is processed temporarily to create the requested result. Normal completed results remain available for up to 10 minutes and are then removed automatically.

Short result window

Uploaded and generated files are temporary processing files rather than documents stored in a permanent public library.

Delete when finished

Use Delete result on the completion screen if you want to request removal before automatic cleanup.

Extract tables from PDF into an editable spreadsheet workflow

A PDF table is designed to be viewed on a page, not edited like spreadsheet data. PDF to Excel is useful when reports, statements, schedules or exported business documents contain tabular information that you need to sort, copy, calculate or reorganize in XLSX format.

Detected tables become spreadsheet cells instead of one flat page image

When the PDF contains a usable text layer and a table can be detected, PDFPA rebuilds the rows and columns as Excel cells. This gives you a starting point for editing values and working with the data. Text outside detected tables is placed according to its approximate page position so labels and supporting content are not automatically discarded.

PDF structure can vary widely. Borderless tables, merged cells, unusual spacing and highly designed reports may not reconstruct perfectly, so the generated workbook should be reviewed before it is used for calculations or critical reporting.

Scanned PDFs need a different expectation

A scanned PDF page can be only an image with no underlying text or table data. Without OCR, there is nothing reliable to rebuild as editable cells. PDFPA preserves such pages visually in the workbook rather than returning an empty sheet, but the text in that image is not converted into spreadsheet values.

PDF to Excel currently has no daily conversion quota and requires no public account or subscription. Each job supports one PDF up to 200 MB and 2,000 pages. The source remains unchanged and generated files are temporary.
